In the last lesson, we learned how to move either straight forward or backwards. We will now discuss turning.
If you still have Ardublocky open from the driving straight lesson, great, we will just be modifying that code. Otherwise, open Ardublocky and start pull in two servo blocks like we did last time. This time we will set the servos to numbers that are not centered around 90. Try putting in the same number for each servo like this:
What type of behavior does it give the AZIBOt? How does this behavior change when you keep them equal but try different values like 110, or 160? Experiment with a few values and observe how the AZIBOt responds.
Now lets try when one value is 90 and one value is not 90 like in the code below. Before you try it, guess what the AZIBOt will do.
The last type of turn we will look at is when the speeds are on opposite sides of 90, but not centered on 90 like this:
Note the behavior of the AZIBOt for this type of turn. Try different values and see how the turn changes.
- What is the different behaviors of each track that makes each type of turn different?
- What situations would it be beneficial to use each of the three types of turns viewed in this experiment?
- Which type of turn turns the fastest? The slowest?
